Drone School (Small Unmanned Aerial Systems Ground School)

Students work in teams flying small drones as a flight crew in preparation for receiving their (separate from this course) FAA Part 107 Commercial sUAS Operator License. Students operate as the Pilot in Command on risk mitigation, crew management, flight dynamics, weather theory, national airspace maps,  NOTAMs, FAA regulations and procedures, terminology, flight systems, instrumentation, maintenance, and media capture within outdoor environments. Taking the FAA Part 107 exam is not required for this course, but you must pass this exam with at least a 70% in order to receive your commercial operator license. This exam is a $150 fee per attempt not covered by this course.

One or two weekend sessions may be required to ensure flight teams have maximum opportunity for outdoor flight with the instructor present. These sessions can be arranged individually for student convenience.

If you would like to take this class for 3 college credits, please see a Student Affairs staff member to register. Do not register here.
