Wilderness First Aid
 

The Wilderness First Aid course is offered through Wilderness Emergency Medical Education (WEME) with national certifications through SOLO schools.

This course consists of 16 hours of Wilderness First Aid training and approximately 2.5 hours of CPR training.

Course Topics:

  • Anatomy of a wilderness crisis
  • Anatomy of the musculoskeletal system
  • Asthma
  • Backcountry essentials
  • Cold-related injuries
  • Environmental emergencies & survival skills (including lightning)
  • Heat-related injuries
  • Medical emergencies and critical care
  • orthopedics
  • patient assessment system
  • patient lifting and moving
  • principles of fracture care
  • rescue plan
  • response and assessment
  • soft tissue injuries and medical emergencies
  • spinal cord injury management
  • sprains and strains
  • trauma-musculoskeletal injuries
  • trauma-soft tissue inuries
  • universal precautions
  • use of Epinephrine

Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course
 

The Wilderness First Aid/Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course is offered through Wilderness Emergency Medical Education (WEME) with national certifications through SOLO schools.

Participants who are currently certified as WFRs through WMI, WMA, Remote Medical, or SOLO can obtain WFR Re-Cert through this course.
